The Oxbridge classroom isn’t limited to one room or building. Every Oxbridge course is designed to make the most of the extraordinary resources of the great cities in which the programs are taking place, so that students discover the city through the course and the course through the city. On any given day, the classroom might be a local museum, a research lab or hospital, the market square, or a nearby park. Some days, the teacher’s expertise is supplemented by discussions, workshops, and demonstrations run by vising guest speakers. This variety in both venue and content delivery are core to our academic philosophy and contribute to an interactive and immersive environment.
When not in class, students are presented with a broad range of exciting, optional activities that enable them safely to discover and experience Barcelona’s unique cultural wealth. Activities include guided tours of the Sagrada Familia and Santa Maria del Mar, nocturnal tours of the different neighborhoods, trips to the beach, culinary explorations of the world-famous food market, the Boqueria, and tours of the city’s amazing museums, including the museum of chocolate, the CosmoCaixa, the Picasso Museum, and the Aquarium de Barcelona.
For football fans, there is also the option to engage in five-a-side soccer games and to follow in the footsteps of legends with a trip to Camp Nou, the home of FC Barcelona. Among the more academic pursuits, students can also attend guest lectures by local writers, journalists, and academics.
All students take part in field trips to Montserrat and Girona.
