The Oxbridge classroom isn’t limited to one room or building. Every Oxbridge course is designed to make the most of the extraordinary resources of the great cities in which the programs are taking place, so that students discover the city through the course and the course through the city. On any given day, the classroom might be a local museum, a research lab or hospital, the market square, or a nearby park. Some days, the teacher’s expertise is supplemented by discussions, workshops, and demonstrations run by vising guest speakers. This variety in both venue and content delivery are core to our academic philosophy and contribute to an interactive and immersive environment.
Thanks to our full calendar of extracurricular activities, students have the opportunity to experience some of New York City’s iconic attractions. From gazing at the skyline from the top of the Empire State Building and admiring the sunset from the Brooklyn Bridge to enjoying a picnic in Central Park or a dessert tour of Greenwich Village, there’s always something to do in the "City That Never Sleeps!"
This four-week program provides plenty of time for students to live like New Yorkers and enjoy activities favored by locals. They can root for the home team at a Major League Baseball game, laugh along at a comedy show, and ride the Wonder Wheel at Coney Island.
Furthermore, some of our activities have been designed to help students as they prepare for college. The program offers a selection of eminent guest speakers touching on critical topics, and students have the opportunity to tour prestigious universities like NYU, Yale, Brown, and UPenn, and attend Columbia University’s Summer College Fair.
Although no week on an Oxbridge program is “typical”, the below provides a general overview of a week in the life of a Oxbridge in New York student.
