The Oxbridge classroom isn’t limited to one room or building. Every Oxbridge course is designed to make the most of the extraordinary resources of the great cities in which the programs are taking place, so that students discover the city through the course and the course through the city. On any given day, the classroom might be a local museum, a research lab or hospital, the market square, or a nearby park. Some days, the teacher’s expertise is supplemented by discussions, workshops, and demonstrations run by vising guest speakers. This variety in both venue and content delivery are core to our academic philosophy and contribute to an interactive and immersive environment.
Our extracurricular activities are designed to create a balance between study and leisure-time with daily elective sporting and cultural events. Sports typically include punting, cricket, soccer, ultimate frisbee, and quidditch, although our activities team is always ready to help should students wish to try something else.
Every day, students are also offered a range of elective cultural options, through which to immerse themselves in Cambridge’s amazing and vibrant cultural life. Recent activities have included attending the Shakespeare Festival, walking to the Grantchester Meadows, taking part in a guided tour of the Fitzwilliam Museum, visiting King's College Chapel, or indeed just enjoying life in the busy market town. Students also have the opportunity to run their own TED talks, to make pancakes, and to take part in banquets and parties.
From Darwin’s rooms to the pub in which Watson and Crick cracked the mystery of DNA, there are innumerable sites in the city that bear witness to pivotal events in British and world history. Cambridge offers unsurpassed opportunities for cultural exploration and adventure.
