Led by distinguished scholars, our seminars are designed to give participants access to current scholarship and university resources in a variety of fields, to introduce them to innovative approaches to traditional ideas and subjects, to explore new pedagogical and curricular possibilities, and to provide a variety of cultural, social, and imaginative experiences – all in four of the cultural capitals of the world: Oxford, Cambridge, Paris and Barcelona.

  • Seminars are one week long and take place in July.
  • They are residential, including breakfast and dinner each day.
  • In University residences, participants experience cultural immersion and intellectual invigoration with local academics and scholars.
  • In Oxford or Cambridge, Study Groups are focused upon academic themes, including The Library and the Academy, Shakespeare in History, World Histories, Literature and the Fantastic, Science and Philosophy, America in World History, Visual Experience, and English Literature.
  • In Paris and Barcelona, we offer Study Groups in English as well as French or Spanish.
  • A wide variety of plenary sessions, given by outstanding academics and intellectuals, include historical and scientific discussions, poetry readings, and academic workshops.
  • A comprehensive schedule of cultural events includes historical tours, museum and gallery visits, as well as free time for individual research and relaxation.

A number of Fellowships are available for participation in our Seminars. These are our Outstanding Teacher Fellowships and Career Teacher Fellowships. For information about these fellowships please click on the link:
