Welcome to our Teacher Seminars 2008!
Led by distinguished scholars, our seminars are designed
to give participants access to current scholarship and university
resources in a variety of fields, to introduce them to innovative
approaches to traditional ideas and subjects, to explore new
pedagogical and curricular possibilities, and to provide a
variety of cultural, social, and imaginative experiences,
all in three of the cultural capitals of the world: Oxford,
Cambridge, and Paris.
The Seminars take place throughout July (in Cambridge, July
6-13; in Paris, July 14-21; in Oxford, July 20-27) in university
colleges and residences. They feature Study Groups on focused
academic themes, including The Library and the Academy,
Shakespeare in History, American History,
Science and Philosophy, Visual Experience,
and English Literature. There are also a wide variety
of plenary sessions, all given by outstanding academics and
intellectuals, and a comprehensive schedule of cultural events
and outings, historical tours, museum and gallery visits,
and free time for individual research and relaxation.
A number of Fellowships are available for
participation in our Seminars. These are our Outstanding
Teacher Fellowships and Career Teaching Fellowships.
