Dr. Nick Bampos.
Dr. Bampos was unanimously elected to the esteemed position
of Senior Tutor of Trinity Hall, Cambridge University, in
October 2003. Born in Greece and educated in Australia, he
completed both a BSc and a PhD at the University of Sydney
before coming to Cambridge to study as a postdoctoral researcher
over ten years ago. His talents were spotted quickly and he
was elected a Fellow of Trinity Hall in 1999, though much
of his time is devoted to research at the Department of Chemistry,
where he studies molecular chemistry, nuclear magnetic resonance
spectroscopy, and teaches organic and inorganic chemistry
to both undergraduate and graduate students.
Nick Hutchison. An actor,
director, and lecturer, Mr. Hutchison has played lead roles
in Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, and Much Ado About Nothing. A
graduate of Oxford, he has worked professionally with the
Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal National Theatre, and
the Globe Theatre. His screen credits include The Bounty,
Restoration, and most recently About a Boy. Mr. Hutchison
also lectures for the Globe Theatre’s education program.
With his interactive and entertaining workshop, he provides
our students with a framework to understanding the cultural,
historical, and political contexts that shaped Shakespeare’s
plays.
Professor John Morrill.
Professor Morrill is Professor of British and Irish History
at Cambridge University and Deputy Director of the University’s
Centre for Historical Research in the Arts, Social Sciences,
and Humanities. As a world authority on Oliver Cromwell, the
17thcentury regicide, he is published widely in both popular
history of the period and in ground-breaking research into
the English Civil War and its combatants’ religious
psychology. His talk on Oliver Cromwell, one of Cambridge
University’s most notorious alumni, is flushed with
historical precision and entertaining insight, and our historians
are able to visit Cromwell’s former house in Ely, just
outside of Cambridge.
Andrew McDougall A partner
with leading law firm White & Case, Mr. McDougall has
extensive experience with international commercial arbitration
and commercial litigation. His client list includes multinational
corporations and governments, and he addresses students on
the enforcement of international law and dispute resolution.
Malcolm Miller Mr. Miller
is a worldfamous expert on Chartres, and author of definitive
works on every aspect of its architecture and history. He
has lectured on Chartres Cathedral since 1958 and introduces
our students to this wonderful medieval cathedral with a passionate,
erudite presentation on the history of the cathedral and a
tour of its grounds.
Celeste Schenck Professor
Schenck is a Professor of Comparative Literature and Vice
President for Academic Planning at the American University
of Paris. Educated at Princeton and Brown Universities, she
is an acclaimed critic and author, and for ten years edited
a series in feminist criticism, Reading Women Writing. A former
director of L’Académie de Paris, she speaks to
our students about undergraduate study in Paris.
Lana Wong Ms. Wong is
a fine art and documentary photographer who was educated at
Harvard University and London’s Royal College of Art.
She speaks to our students about Shootback, a project she
founded in the largest slum in Nairobi, Kenya, which encourages
children, many of whom have never held a camera, to document
their everyday lives.
